How the Meal Planning App Works
Time To Plate takes you from a collection of recipes to a perfectly coordinated meal in three steps. No spreadsheets, no guesswork, no kitchen chaos.
Save Your Recipes
Build your personal recipe library in minutes.
- Create recipes from scratch with ingredients, steps, prep time, cook time, and the appliance each step uses.
- Import recipes from any URL. The importer extracts the structured data so you do not have to copy and paste.
- Organize recipes by course (appetizer, main, side, dessert, etc.), tag your favorites, and search across your entire collection.
- Share recipes with family members on your plan. Guest roles can view recipes but not edit them.
Plan Your Meal Event
Turn a collection of recipes into a structured event.
- Create a new event and add recipes to your menu. Choose your target serve time and the kitchen profile you will be cooking in.
- Start from scratch or launch an event from a reusable meal template. Templates save your favorite recipe combinations so you can recreate them in minutes.
- Add guests from your guest profiles. The system warns you about allergen conflicts and custom avoid-ingredients before cooking day.
- Set appliance exclusions if needed (outdoor grill unavailable due to weather, for example). The scheduler adjusts automatically.
Execute with Confidence
Follow the timeline and let the scheduler handle the coordination.
- The scheduler builds your timeline by working backward from serve time. It assigns every cooking task to the right appliance lane, respects capacity limits, and inserts preheat, rest, and hold tasks automatically.
- If anything conflicts, you get a plain-English explanation and a suggested fix. No cryptic error codes.
- Switch to Cook Mode for a distraction-free, step-by-step experience. The Now view shows only active tasks across all lanes. Timers run in the background and alert you when something needs attention.
- Everything comes out together, on time, without the chaos of juggling sticky notes and phone timers.
Why Appliance-Lane Scheduling Matters
Traditional meal planners give you a recipe list and a shopping list. They leave the hardest part to you: figuring out when to start each dish so everything finishes at the same time. Time To Plate solves this by treating your kitchen like a production schedule. Each appliance is a lane. Each cooking task is assigned to a lane. The scheduler ensures nothing overlaps beyond capacity and that every dish is ready when you need it.
Planning a Thanksgiving dinner for 15? The scheduler knows your oven can handle the turkey and a casserole simultaneously, that your stovetop has 4 burners, and that the slow cooker is running all day. It plans backward from your 6 PM serve time, adds preheat and rest periods, and gives you a minute-by-minute timeline you can follow in Cook Mode.
